Quad’s magic at Marlow International Regatta

Three boys’ crews travelled down to the prestigious Marlow International Regatta as part of their training for the National Championships in July. Held on the World Championship course at Dorney Lake the event is an opportunity for crews to experience multi-lane racing over 2km. There was success for the J14 coxed quad of Ben Farrar, Jon Farrar, Tom Noble and Rob Barnett (coxed by Jack Lazenby) who beat two strong crews from Windsor Boys School in a straight final. The crew rowed a time of 7.53 minutes well ahead of the nearest crew rowing a time of 8.01.

Fifteen-year-olds Rory Sullivan and Oli Staite rowed at J18 level. They came second in their first round which put them through to the final where they managed fourth place. The coxless quad of Tom Walker, Josh Pendry, Will Tew and James Crumpton (also with three boys rowing up an age group) also managed a fourth in the final.

This weekend J14 boys are attending Peterborough Junior Regatta for more multi-lane experience and the club is sending several crews to Ironbridge Regatta on Sunday.
