Five crews picked up wins at Ironbridge Regatta on Sunday. J13s Dominic Murphy and Lawrence Sullivan earned a well-deserved win in a straight final against Ross Boat Club. In a tough race that saw the crews neck and neck for most of the 500 metre course the Evesham boys powered through on the finish cheered on by a crowd enjoying the determination showed by both of these young crews.

At J14 the quad of Jon Farrar, Ben Farrar, Rob Barnett, and Alex Shirra (coxed by Jack Lazenby) beat a crew from Hereford before facing a daunting challenge in the form of a crew of very tall opponents from Warrington. What the Evesham boys lacked in terms of height they made up for in perfect technique. In another close race the Evesham boys didn’t let their opponents get the better of them and nagged away until they pulled through first on the finish. In some tough doubles racing Barnett and Shirra were beaten by a crew from Burton Leander. Ben and Jon Farrar faced two of the Warrington boys from the quad and were pushed all the way to the finish line which they crossed first - once again good rowing technique making the difference between winning and losing. In the final the twins overpowered Burton Leander to take the win.

In the J15 doubles Tom Parry and Huw Davies put on an impressive show against a crew from Hereford. The Evesham boys have put in some good river training this season and the effort is now paying off. Hereford were pushing all the way but the superior strength of this Evesham double was evident on the finish.

Will Tew and Tom Walker were on top form in the J16 double sculls. The boys, who are in training for the British National Championships in two weeks’ time, saw off crews from Hereford, Ross, and Minerva Bath for a well-deserved win.
