Bewdley Regatta Report - 19 wins

Evesham rowers proved themselves as at the top of their game at Bewdley regatta this weekend, collecting wins in 19 events, winning the highest ranked event of the weekend, and claiming the Victor Ludorum well ahead of the nearest rival who only had ten wins.
The first win was in Senior III Eights, the crew of Steve Redgewell, Lloyd Tredell, George Holdsworth, Tom Robertson, Rob Wilson, Paul Redgewell, Chris Sumner and Nick Symonds, coxed by Zena Tredell, stormed through their round into the final, where they came in half a length clear of their opposition. They then continued the trend as Paul Redgewell, Steve Redgewell, and Chris Sumner teamed up with James Gardner to create the Senior II coxless quad. They had total control of their straight final against Bridgnorth, and truly outclassed the opposition crossing the line easily ahead of them. Single sculler Jordan Bunyan then showed fantastic technique as he cruised through S3 singles, racing against senior men, at the age of 16.
Junior 14 double scullers Lewis Giles and Andre Roberts proved themselves well in their event, giving a tidy performance to claim the pewter pots. Likewise for Junior 15 girls Aimee Rutherford and Yasmin Tredell who had a strong row in the straight final against Ross rowing club. The girls then continued the wins in WJ131x, with impressive sculling from Tegan parsons, WJ141x, Natasha Bradley, and WJ16 double scullers Colleen Penrose and Chloe Bryan. All putting in fantastic performances and coming home comfortably ahead of their rivals. Stacey Allen put on a powerful demonstration in Senior IV singles, beating her Derwent opposition easily, before jumping straight into a Senior IV double with Debbie Turner, to defeat a strong Trent double by one length.
Sunday rose to be an equally successful day, with a further nine wins for the club, the first being for Abi Penrose in Women’s Junior Sculls, beating opposition from her home club, and Stourport BC to claim her two pint pot. She then teamed up with sister Colleen Penrose, who had already ruled WJ16 sculls against a tidy Ross sculler, to cruise through and win Senior IV double sculls. Abi then claimed her third pot of the day, coxing the S4 coxed four of Tom Leighton, Chris Sumner, Dan Walker and Matthew Murphy to victory through three rounds of racing.
Junior 13 singles was won by Wil Taylor, who is consistently a step above his age group. While Lewis Giles reigned victorious in J14 sculls. Their were similar results for Tegan Parsons and Olivia Walklett in WJ13 and WJ14 singles, respectively. Jordan Bunyan governed S3 single sculls for the second day running to clock up another pot for himself and the club. A fantastic result, and a solid message that one year on from total submersion beneath the Avon , Evesham rowing is back on top form, and is a force to be reckoned with.
