ERC were out in force at Stourport Regatta weekend coming away with a very respectable 17 wins and second place for the Victor Ludorum.

Despite Saturday’s rain and mud the determination of Evesham’s rowers remained high with 11 wins on the day.

Zara Cottrill won her sculling “novices” in the women’s novice sculls. Tegan Parsons continued her unbeaten run in the WJ13 sculls; being in front from start to finish on the 1100m course. Aimee Rutherford was next up in the WJ15 sculls and once again a final was led the whole way by an Evesham girl.

Abi Penrose then set out to win WJ18 sculls, an event she won in 2007, she did so beating crews from Reading and Bristol Ariel.

Will Taylor won the J13 sculls beating his opposition from Stouport easily.

The last pot of the day to be won by an Evesham single sculler was won by Jordan Bunyan in the S3 sculls.

The WJ14 double of Olivia Walklett and Laura Attwood has an easy round against Worcester to get them into the final against a crew from Ross that had never lost to an Evesham crew before. They had a very good start putting them into an early lead, which they managed to keep and cross the line a length in front of their very strong opposition.

Colleen Penrose and Tash Symonds were next up in the WJ18 doubles in a straight final against local rivals Hereford. The girls fought hard the whole way and as they crossed the line there was only one finish bell. They waited and the verdict was called “dead heat; re-row!” The girls heads sank but then another announcement, Hereford had been disqualified for steering into Evesham’s lane, forcing them to stop.

Colleen and Tash then teamed up with Abi, and Camilla Hadland a rower from Stratford in a composite four at WS4. Coxed by Hayley Pawloski the girls had a comfortable win over their opposition from Hollingworth Lake after having a battle with them off the start.

Oli Staite and Rory Sullivan had nothing to prove after representing Great Britain just three weeks ago and cruised to an easy win against Minerva Bath in the S3 pairs.

The WS3 quad of Mandie Cox, Helen Stirrup, Tracy Dresch and Debbie Turner had a very strong row to win by lengths.

Sunday started out just as wet but by midday the sun was out.

Tegan Parsons was again on great form coming through to win the WJ13 sculls comfortably. Tash Bradley set out with something to prove in the WJ14 sculls, losing on the Saturday to a rival from Worcester, she came up against her again on Sunday. Having a slower start Tash had some catching up to do. They crossed the line together and were told to re-row it because they had dead-heated. This time Tash was still behind off the start but she wanted to win it and pushed through her opposition to win by 2 lengths.

Aimee Rutherford set out to win again in the WJ15 sculls and she did it in style beating her opposition easily.

Jordan Bunyan successfully won the S3 sculls now making him a S2 sculler.

The J15 double of Dom Murphy and Jamie Sellick beat the home team Stourport by ½.

The WS3 quad of Mandie Cox, Helen Stirrup, Tracey Stapleton and Debbie Turner had a very good row to beat Monmouth by 3 lengths.

A very good weekend was had by all. The club is off to Warwick regatta this weekend and will hopefully bring back more pots.
