Evesham Regatta report and results

Thousands of rowers from all over the south and west of the country descended on Evesham for the annual Rowing Club Regatta. There was a packed programme of racing over the two-day event which saw nearly 600 races being held on the river Avon. (read more…)

Three golds and two silvers for Evesham juniors at Junior Inter-regional Championships

Evesham’s J16 boys were on top form last weekend winning a hat trick of three gold medals in the Junior Inter-regional Championships at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham. There were silver medals for two of Evesham’s girl crews, too. Twelve Evesham crews represented the West Midlands in an event that brought together the best rowers from 12 regions around the country. Preparations for Evesham Regatta

Evesham Rowing Club is busy preparing for its main event of the season – Evesham Regatta. With several thousand rowers and spectators set to descend on the town over the May Bank Holiday weekend for one of the biggest events in the rowing calendar, club officials are predicting that this year’s regatta will break all records. Entries for the event are already up on 2006 – a record year- with more than a week to go until entries close.

Refreshments will be available from the club house on Saturday and Sunday and with excellent viewing from Crown Meadow and Abbey Park the club invites the people of Evesham to come and cheer on their local crews.

Eight Evesham crews selected to represent the West Midlands

Evesham juniors saw action at the weekend for the selection races to represent the West Midlands at the Junior Inter-regional Championships in April. Selection races were held at Worcester over a 2,500 metre course. Eight Evesham crews were selected to represent the region. (read more…)

Evesham junior rowers take gold at National Scullers and silver at Schools Head

Evesham’s junior 16 coxless quad provided the crowds with a thrilling race at the world-class rowing facility at Dorney Lake, Eton, last week winning the National Junior Scullers Head by just one second. (read more…)

Evesham’s J16 coxed four in action at the National Schools Head in London

This event is for ’sweep oar’ crews - that’s rowing with one oar, not two. The Evesham crew of Ben Farrar, Jon Farrar, James Crumpton and Josh Pendry finished in second place behind a strong crew from St George’s School. Special mention has to be made of the cox Jack Lazenby whose sheer determination ensured the Evesham crew made the most of the river currents and whose steering can only be described as feisty! He forced the Evesham crew through between two other boats, despite a slight clash of blades, and this enabled the boys to shave extra seconds off their time.

Head Brings Glut of Golds

Evesham Rowing Club staged it’s sixth Junior Head of the River last Saturday and attracted a record-breaking 250 crews. The event now attracts more crews than the Senior Head - a sign of how strong junior rowing is in the country. (read more…)

Victory at Staines Regatta

Evesham Rowing Club’s junior girls headed south at the weekend to Staines and Burway Regattas. Competition was pretty tough but Abi Penrose and Nicky Pitchford came home with goblets for their wins at J15 and J14 single sculls, respectively.
