Five crews picked up wins at Ironbridge Regatta on Sunday. J13s Dominic Murphy and Lawrence Sullivan earned a well-deserved win in a straight final against Ross Boat Club. In a tough race that saw the crews neck and neck for most of the 500 metre course the Evesham boys powered through on the finish cheered on by a crowd enjoying the determination showed by both of these young crews. Evesham Rowing Club take to the land at the Bourton Hilly Half Marathon

One of Evesham Rowing Club’s junior coaches, Norman Redgewell, was raising money to help fund a new junior boat for the club. He ran the course in 128.02 minutes and said he was relieved ‘not to have come last.’ He was joined by fellow club members Maxine Emes, Steve Penrose and Steve Redgewell - none of whom finished last!

Ali Gregory to row at Henley Royal Regatta

Evesham Rowing Club’s Ali Gregory has qualified to compete at Henley Royal Regatta - the world’s most prestigious rowing event which takes place this week. Ali is taking part in the Fawley Challenge Cup as part of a coxless quad with three rowers from Reading Rowing Club. (read more…)

Quad’s magic at Marlow International Regatta

Three boys’ crews travelled down to the prestigious Marlow International Regatta as part of their training for the National Championships in July. Held on the World Championship course at Dorney Lake the event is an opportunity for crews to experience multi-lane racing over 2km. (read more…)

Emma Woodedd wins her first major race

Evesham’s GB junior rower, Emma Woodedd, won her first major race last Saturday at the prestigious Metropolitan Regatta.

The coxless four crew was made up of junior rowers selected by the Great Britain coaching team and were entered in the women’s elite category - the top level in rowing. Rowing in a straight final against crews from Scotland, London and Nottingham, the youngsters, aged 17 and 18, were delighted to have beaten some of Britain’s best senior rowers. (read more…)

Women’s Vet B Doubles Win

The purpose-built rowing lake at Peterborough was the venue for another win for Evesham Rowing Club’s women last weekend. Teresa Roberts and Tina Bonham won the women’s veteran B doubles race coming in three lengths ahead of their nearest rivals, Derwent. In the senior 2 doubles final an hour later the women came second to a crew from Northampton.

The duo is heading for Nottingham next weekend for the National Veterans’ Championships.

Five Evesham boys’ crews took medals at last Sunday’s Junior Inter-regional Championships. Eight boys crews and three girls crews from the club were selected to represent the West Midlands at this event, held at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham. (read more…)

Bronze for Britain

Evesham Rowing Club’s Emma Woodedd is celebrating after winning a bronze medal for her country. Emma was recently selected to row for the junior women’s GB squad in the European Junior Regatta in Munich, Germany. Rowing in a coxless four Emma’s crew won through to the final where they collected bronze behind two strong German crews.
