National Junior Scullers Head of the River

Evesham Annual Pudding Race

The annual Pudding Races (or should that be Puddings Race) attracted enough rowers for four junior and four senior crews with some competitive rowing over the 350 metres. Thanks to those who helped to organise a fun (but very chilly) event!

Wycliffe Small Boats Head of the River

The venue last Saturday was Wycliffe Sculling Centre, near Gloucester. The Wycliffe Small Boats Head, rowed on the Gloucester Berkeley Canal was unaffected by the heavy overnight rain which made the Avon at Evesham unrowable last weekend. (read more…)

Evesham Head of River 2005

Despite their heroic row the Bedford men did not topple the Pinsent-Redgrave time, which still stands as the overall course record. A sub-15 minute time from Chadbury Lock to Evesham Rowing Club has only been achieved once before in the history of the Evesham Head of the River - back in 1994 by a duo called Matthew Pinsent and Steve Redgrave. Last Saturday it was the turn of a Senior 3 Men’s crew from Bedford Rowing Club to go sub-15 over the 4,000 metre (2.5 mile) course. The Bedford men set a record breaking time of 14.53 minutes for a coxless quad, over a minute faster than the nearest time of the day, set by a Senior 3 coxed four from RGS Worcester. (read more…)

British Indoor Rowing Championships 2005

Last weekend’s British Indoor Rowing Championships, at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena, attracted nearly 3,000 competitors including 31 hopefuls from Evesham Rowing Club. The effort paid off with the club bringing home two gold and three silver medals. (read more…)
